About the role#
As a Generation Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by working on real-world challenges within the power generation industry. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support operational efficiency, system reliability, and sustainability across our non-nuclear generation facilities.
What you'll do#
- Analyze engineering data to help identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and operational outcomes.
- Apply engineering principles to solve practical challenges in a power generation environment.
- Visit and work at generation sites to gain a deeper understanding of power plant operations and engineering systems.
- Perform simple to intermediate analysis and designs.
- Assist in preparing business and engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations, and studies.
- Conduct research, technical reviews, and investigations, summarizing your findings in written reports or oral presentations.
- Engage with cross-functional teams and coordinate efforts across departments to achieve project goals.
- Utilize internal resources to learn about business and engineering operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
- Demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to learning.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others and contribute to team-based projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.

- Location: Phoenix, Arizona.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: This is a full-time, on-site position.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Note: This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection access consistent with NERC standards, which includes a seven-year criminal history background check.
