About the role#
The Palo Verde Engineering Summer Internship is a paid, 10-week program running from May through July. This full-time role offers students the chance to gain real-world experience in the energy industry. Interns work on individual and group projects, shadow professionals across various disciplines, and receive guidance from a dedicated manager and mentor. You will also participate in professional development activities and present your project results to senior leadership.
What you'll do#
- Perform simple to intermediate engineering analysis and designs.
- Assist with research, technical reviews, and business documentation.
- Conduct investigations and summarize your findings through written reports or oral presentations.
- Coordinate with other departments and disciplines to meet project goals.
- Utilize internal resources to learn about business and engineering operations.
- Support refueling or short-notice outages and serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization if required.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate program in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or Physics.
- A minimum GPA of 3.2.
- Ability to apply basic engineering principles and problem-resolution techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and safety practices.
- Status as a U.S. person, as this position requires access to information controlled under U.S. Export Control Laws.

- This internship is located in Tonopah, Arizona.
- The position is on-site and full-time.
- Housing is provided for the duration of the program.
