About the role#
This student worker position at Gibbes on the University of South Carolina campus involves daily food service and catering operations. You will support our team by preparing food, maintaining workstations, and interacting with guests. This role is open to students across various majors, including Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Nutrition, and Public Health.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and build food items using standardized recipes.
- Set up, break down, clean, and sanitize workstations like prep tables and service counters.
- Serve food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Replenish food items to keep products stocked at appropriate levels.
- Store food according to established standards.
- Maintain a positive demeanor with guests, clients, and coworkers.
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies and ensure the security of company assets.
What you'll need#
- Ability to demonstrate guest service skills.
- Must hold or be willing to acquire a food safety certification.
- Previous food service experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to handle physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing.
- Willingness to wear uniforms or Personal Protective Equipment as required.
