About the role#
As a Student Worker for Catering at the College of Charleston, you will support food service operations on campus. This role involves preparing food, managing service stations, and interacting directly with guests. You will gain experience in food safety, customer service, and professional kitchen operations.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and assemble food items by following standardized recipes.
- Set up service areas, including prep tables, counters, hot wells, and steam tables.
- Replenish food stock and ensure items are displayed correctly.
- Serve customers while maintaining a positive attitude and anticipating their needs.
- Clean, sanitize, and break down workstations after service.
- Store all food products according to safety standards.
- Follow company safety policies and protect company assets.
What you'll need#
- Ability to demonstrate strong guest service skills.
- Must hold or be willing to acquire a food safety certification.
- Previous experience in food service is preferred but not required.
- Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to wear a uniform or use personal protective equipment as required.
