About the role#
As a Student Worker Barista at Randolph-Macon College, you will help create a welcoming environment for guests. This role involves preparing beverages, managing transactions, and ensuring the coffee bar remains clean and well-stocked. You will work independently to maintain service standards and follow food safety protocols.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and serve coffees, teas, and specialty beverages according to brand standards.
- Operate the register and POS system to handle cash and credit card transactions.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace, including setting up and breaking down service stations.
- Restock beverage coolers, grab and go items, service ware, and condiments.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for every product.
- Count and balance your cash drawer and complete necessary deposit slips.
What you'll need#
- Basic math and counting skills.
- The ability to read and communicate in English.
- A willingness to work independently with limited supervision.
- Completion of Food Handling Certification as required.
- Previous experience in customer service, cash handling, or as a barista is preferred.
- Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
