About the role#
The Catering Services Student Worker supports the event operations team in executing catering orders and events at Mississippi State University. This role involves the full lifecycle of event service, from initial setup to final cleanup. This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Set up catering and event services, including tables, chairs, and buffet lines, according to client requests.
- Transport food, beverages, and necessary equipment to event locations.
- Replenish food and beverage products during events to maintain service levels.
- Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of food service areas throughout the event.
- Provide professional customer service to all guests.
- Break down event areas, clean the space, and return equipment to proper storage after the event concludes.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Availability to work event-based hours.
- Willingness to follow the assigned dress code and wear required uniforms or personal protective equipment.
- Ability to complete Food Handling and Alcohol Service training.
- Previous customer service or catering experience is preferred.
- Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing.
- Open to students from the following majors: Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Psychology, Communications, and Marketing.
