    About the role#

    ARA is hiring an Undergraduate Engineer Intern to support various projects within our engineering teams. This role focuses on applying math, statistics, and engineering principles to solve complex problems. You will work on software systems that range from 3D design and analysis tools to weapons effects and mission planning applications. This is a full-time, paid position located on-site in Raleigh.

    What you'll do#

    • Design and develop engineering and physics-based methodologies, analytical algorithms, and software tools.
    • Improve, optimize, and tune existing algorithms.
    • Create new algorithms from scratch.
    • Participate in the evaluation of algorithm and system performance.
    • Apply math and science concepts to solve multi-disciplinary problems.

    What you'll need#

    • US Citizenship is required to meet eligibility for access to classified information.
    • You must be an undergraduate student in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Math, or Physics.
    • A strong interest in developing modeling and simulation software using high-level languages like C++, Python, or Java.
    • Demonstrated experience moving from a problem statement to a solution using math and science.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
    • Familiarity with modern C++ is preferred.
    • Interest in DoD modeling and simulation, structural dynamics, blast effects, or probabilistic analysis.
    • An existing security clearance is considered a plus.
    • A desire to quickly learn new technical domains.
