About the role#
ARA is looking for graduate students to join our engineering team. You will support projects that range from 3D interactive design and mission planning systems to cyber security applications. This is a part-time, paid internship based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Apply math, statistics, and engineering concepts to solve multi-disciplinary problems.
- Develop new algorithms from scratch and optimize existing ones.
- Handle software design, development, and debugging.
- Evaluate the performance of algorithms and systems.
What you'll need#
- US Citizenship and the ability to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Current enrollment as a graduate student in computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field.
- A strong foundation in software development.
- Experience with at least one modern ecosystem like Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
- Experience taking a project from a problem statement to a production-ready algorithm.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well on a team.
- Ability to learn new domains quickly.
We also value experience with the following:
- Modern C++ and object-oriented programming with QT.
- Web frameworks like Django, Flask, or gRPC.
- Front-end development using React or Vue.
- Cloud technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Distributed computing, physics-based modeling, or Machine Learning.
- Software development processes such as version control, agile, and CI/CD.
- Prior or existing security clearance.
