About the role#
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Digital Intern to join the Multidomain Sensing, Targeting and Survivability Division in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work on-site for at least 10 weeks, contributing to the design and development of digital hardware systems.
What you'll do#
- Engage in the full life-cycle of digital electronic equipment, from design and implementation to test verification and production.
- Design and develop digital logic for mission solutions.
- Gain hands-on experience with programmable logic, including simulation, verification, and system integration.
- Implement and debug designs on real hardware and in simulations.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers to solve design challenges and learn technical best practices.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, with plans to return to school in Fall 2027.
- Major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher.
- Digital design exposure, including experience with VHDL, Verilog, or System Verilog.
- Familiarity with digital logic basics, including truth tables, finite state machines, clock domains, and setup/hold times.
- Knowledge of vendor tools such as Vivado or Quartus and the FPGA development workflow.
- Experience with scripting or high-level programming languages like MATLAB, Python, C, or C++.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.
- A current U.S. Government Secret clearance is preferred.
