About the role#
The Center for Jewish Studies is hiring a student administrative assistant to support the program manager with academic year projects and events. This role offers an opportunity to gain experience in non-profit work, public relations, and international affairs. The position pays $18.40 per hour for 5 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Create promotional materials and manage social media accounts.
- Assist with department events, lectures, and event photography.
- Conduct research, editing, and data analysis.
- Handle office administrative tasks and special projects as they arise.
- Provide support for over 20 events per year, which may include evening or weekend hours.
What you'll need#
- You must be an enrolled American University student.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A dependable and organized work style.
- Comfort representing the university and the Center at public events.
- Prior office experience is helpful but not required.
- An active Federal Work Study award is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is located on the American University campus in Washington, DC.
- The term runs from the beginning of the Fall 2026 semester through the end of the Winter 2027 term.
- This is a part-time, on-site role.
