About the role#
The UVA School of Continuing and Professional Studies is looking for a Social Media Intern to support digital outreach efforts. You will report to the Senior Associate of Communications and work with the marketing team to execute multi-platform communication plans. This role provides an opportunity to build a portfolio of published digital content while learning how a university communications department operates. The position requires approximately 10 hours per week, with schedules adjusted to accommodate your classes.
What you'll do#
- Draft copy and create or source graphics for social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Research content topics and industry best practices to improve social media strategy.
- Maintain website pages and catalog video content.
- Assist with research for articles, communications, and marketing campaigns.
- Ensure all content aligns with University brand guidelines and standards.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at UVA.
- Hands-on experience with social media platforms.
- Strong graphic design skills.
- Ability to provide a social media, graphic, or writing sample with your application.
- Majors in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or Media Studies are preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- Work modality includes both on-site and remote options.
- The pay rate is $17 per hour.
- This is a part-time, rolling internship.
