About the role#
This position supports the athletics communications team at American University. You will help cover and promote various sports programs through office work and event coverage. This role provides training and exposure to the field of intercollegiate athletics.
What you'll do#
- Track statistics at athletics competitions, including recording substitutions and game events.
- Create score graphics and clip highlights for social media.
- Write content such as game previews, recaps, student-athlete bios, and feature stories.
- Maintain and update in-season and end-of-season records.
- Organize and label photography assets.
- Conduct historical research and update the athletics website.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at American University.
- An active Federal Work Study (FWS) award.
- Availability to work nights and weekends as required by the athletics schedule.
- Interest in fields such as Communications, Journalism, or Media Studies.

- Location: On-site in Washington, DC.
- Term: Rolling.
- Schedule: Part-time, approximately 10 hours per week.
