About the role#
The University Annual Giving & Stewardship team is looking for a student writer to support fundraising efforts. You will report to the Assistant Director of Content Creation and Direct Marketing. This role covers the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Write direct marketing appeals, impact pieces, and social media posts.
- Edit and proof drafts for accuracy and tone.
- Interview and write stories featuring alumni, students, faculty, staff, and donors.
- Assist with additional tasks within the Office of Engagement as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at the University of Virginia.
- Eligibility for Federal Work-Study.
- Strong writing skills and a sharp eye for detail.
- Ability to manage your time well and handle multiple projects at once.
- A resume and a writing sample are required for your application.
Location & details#
- This position is primarily remote, with periodic opportunities for in-person collaboration at our office on Old Ivy Road in Charlottesville.
- You will work between 10 and 20 hours per week.
- The pay rate is $19.50 per hour.
