About the role#
The Department of Sociology at Cal Poly Pomona is hiring a student assistant to support the launch of the Certified Wellness Coach II program. You will work with faculty and staff to handle advertising and outreach for this new initiative. This role is a good fit for students studying Sociology, Communications, or Marketing who want to gain professional experience in program development.
What you'll do#
- Research and compile information for promotional materials.
- Design flyers, brochures, and other marketing assets.
- Update and maintain webpage content.
- Create content for social media channels.
- Assist with filming and editing an informational video about the program.
- Help promote informational sessions and support student recruitment efforts.
- Travel occasionally with staff to local community colleges for outreach events.
What you'll need#
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
- A creative, organized, and detail-oriented approach.
- Reliability in meeting deadlines and program needs.
- Experience with tools like Canva, graphic design, or video editing is helpful but not required.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid position with approximately 5 hours of work per week.
- You will work remotely for most tasks but must attend monthly in-person meetings on the Cal Poly Pomona campus.
- Occasional travel to nearby colleges or local events is required.
- The term covers Fall 2026 through Winter 2027, ending January 15, 2027, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.
