About the role#
The Institute for Transformative Education (ITE) at San Diego State University is hiring a Student Media Intern. This role supports the Communications Specialist in managing internal and external messaging to ensure staff and the public receive accurate information about ITE programs. This is a paid, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Create flyers, graphics, and video content using Canva.
- Photograph and film content for social media and print materials.
- Manage the social media calendar and update platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram for ITE and SSS TPrep.
- Assist in scheduling newsletters such as ITE News Bites.
- Maintain and update links and documents on program webpages and Linktree.
- Write copy tailored to different stakeholders and media formats.
- Monitor activity on the Flare app.
- Participate in project-specific activities, including UB Summer Academy events.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at SDSU.
- Proficiency in Canva and Meta Business Suite.
- Familiarity with social media best practices and brand voice.
- Experience with accessibility features or a willingness to learn.
- Majors in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, or related fields.
- An Associate's degree is preferred.
- Ability to perform most work assignments with proficiency.
Location & details#
- This position is located in San Diego, California.
- You must reside in California and live within a commutable distance from SDSU at the time of hire.
- The pay range is $17.75 to $18.50 per hour.
- Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
