About the role#
The Design and Build Lab at American University is looking for a student technician to support daily makerspace operations. This is a part-time position requiring 10 hours per week. You will help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors. Training is provided for all major equipment and safety procedures.
What you'll do#
- Support daily operations of the makerspace.
- Assist visitors with their projects and equipment use.
- Train and mentor other students.
- Monitor equipment and troubleshoot basic technical issues.
- Organize tools and materials.
- Support lab events and workshops.
What you'll need#
- You must be an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at American University.
- Experience or interest in digital fabrication, such as 3D printing, laser cutting, or vinyl cutting.
- Experience or interest in electronics and Arduino.
- Experience or interest in vector graphics design or 3D modeling.
- Strong communication skills and reliability.
- An interest in woodworking or general prototyping is a plus.

- Compensation: $18.40 - $20.00 per hour.
