About the role#
The ITS Lab Student Assistant serves as the initial point of contact for technical support within the ITS Tech Zone and Client Support Office. You will help students, faculty, and staff resolve technical issues while managing the day-to-day operations of computer labs and classrooms.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and WiFi connectivity issues on PCs, Macs, and mobile devices.
- Answer phones and log help desk tickets to track user requests.
- Assist users with account activation, printing services, and common software like MS Office.
- Image and prepare new desktops and laptops for deployment.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of computer lab and classroom facilities.
- Replace printer supplies and perform hardware checks to ensure equipment functionality.
What you'll need#
- Mid to advanced computing skills and a basic understanding of troubleshooting methods.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows, macOS, and iOS.
- A basic grasp of hardware functionality and component replacement.
- Ability to lift approximately 30 lbs.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently under limited supervision.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Schedule: Rolling basis, maximum of 20 hours per week during the semester and up to 35 hours during breaks.
- This is a paid, on-site student position.
