About the role#
The Center for Research Advancement in Smart Manufacturing (CREST-RASM) is hiring Graduate Research Student Assistants. This role involves conducting research in smart manufacturing, robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced systems integration. You will work under the supervision of faculty Principal Investigators to contribute to the center's research mission. This position also provides a pathway for eligible students to transition into PhD programs at the University of California, Riverside.
What you'll do#
- Conduct high-quality graduate-level research in areas like computer vision, robotics, smart manufacturing, and mechanical or electrical systems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates.
- Prepare and present research findings for group meetings, seminars, and publications.
- Assist with grant proposal support and other professional development activities.
- Support the recruitment and mentoring of undergraduate students within the center.
- Dedicate 10 to 20 hours per week during academic semesters and the summer.
What you'll need#
- US citizenship.
- Current enrollment or admission in a Master's program at Cal Poly Pomona in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related STEM discipline.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to quickly read, understand, and synthesize theoretical conference and journal papers.
