About the role#
This work study position supports the science department at Marshalltown Community College. You will help maintain the laboratory environment and assist faculty with daily operations. The role requires 5 hours of work per week for a 30-week period during the Fall 2026 semester.
What you'll do#
- Wash glassware and clean the laboratory space.
- Organize the chemical inventory.
- Collaborate with instructors to set up labs.
- Prepare chemical experiments, demonstrations, and outreach activities.
- Use tools such as pipettes, balances, hot plates, and ventilation hoods.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Some background or coursework in science.
- Ability to perform light work, including exerting up to 10 pounds of force.
- Visual acuity for close inspection and measurement tasks.
