About the role#
The Darden School of Business is hiring research assistants for the academic year to support faculty and the Office of Research Services. These positions involve working on research initiatives covering topics such as marketing, the economy, leadership, and entrepreneurship. You will report directly to faculty members or research staff.
What you'll do#
- Create data sets by researching publicly available information on companies and cities.
- Assist with the preparation, parsing, and storage of large datasets.
- Pull data from web sources and various reports.
- Provide clear documentation for the datasets you create.
- Work with virtual machines and cloud platforms as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a UVA student.
- Proficiency in Python or SQL.
- Experience with data intelligence platforms, machine learning, or large language models.
- Familiarity with Agentic AI, such as Codex, and APIs.
- Ability to read multiple reports, mine databases, and distill information into organized formats.
- Familiarity with high-powered computing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Location & details#
- This position is remote, though you must reside in the United States.
- This role is open exclusively to UVA students.
- The position offers between 8 and 20 hours of work per week.
- Pay rates are based on your level of education: $16.00 per hour for 4-year degree students, $22.00 per hour for MA/MS students, and $25.00 per hour for Ph.D. students.
