About the role#
The American Heart Association is offering a finance internship for the Fall 2026 term. This role provides hands-on experience in financial accounting operations and audit preparation within a non-profit organization. You will work with the National Center and regional teams to support daily operations and monthly financial close processes.
What you'll do#
- Support general ledger accounting tasks for daily, month-end, and year-end closing.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and research reconciling items.
- Draft journal entries while meeting established deadlines.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing work papers and documenting processes.
- Engage with various stakeholders during financial close cycles.
- Gain insight into the key finance processes of a large non-profit organization.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, Data Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different entities.
- Professional communication skills suitable for a corporate or non-profit environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Dallas, Texas.
- Modality: Hybrid (requires some in-office work and local residence).
- Schedule: Minimum of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30am and 5:00pm.
- Compensation: $23.00 per hour.
- Requirements: Reliable WiFi connection and reliable transportation.
