About the role#
The Operations & Project Management Intern supports department-wide initiatives by coordinating projects, examining workflows, and developing resources. You will work with cross-functional stakeholders to translate ideas into sustainable operational practices. This role provides hands-on experience within a national voluntary health organization.
What you'll do#
- Assist with planning, organizing, and monitoring departmental projects and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain project plans, workback schedules, milestones, action logs, and decision records.
- Prepare meeting materials, capture decisions, and support follow-up on deliverables.
- Document current-state workflows and design future-state processes.
- Identify bottlenecks, duplicative work, and operational pain points.
- Gather stakeholder feedback and research best practices to recommend improvements.
- Pilot and evaluate new processes.
- Create and organize standard operating procedures, process maps, templates, and toolkits.
- Support centralized resource libraries and improve the findability of information.
- Develop onboarding, training, and reference materials.
- Conduct environmental scans and benchmarking to identify opportunities.
- Synthesize findings into summaries and leadership-ready presentations.
- Support annual planning and continuous-improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Status as a senior, graduate student, or recent graduate in Business Administration, Operations Management, Project Management, Public Administration, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, Data Analytics, Communications, or a related field.
- Course work or experience in project management, process improvement, operational strategy, or nonprofit operations.
- Intermediate proficiency in SharePoint, specifically building out SharePoint pages.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Canva.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to gather information, identify patterns, and translate findings into recommendations.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a remote environment.
- Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, adaptability, and professionalism.
- Reliable WiFi connection.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 25, 2027, to May 7, 2027).
- Modality: Remote (Central and Eastern Time Zones).
- Schedule: 20 to 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.
- Compensation: $23.00 per hour.
