About the role#
The American Heart Association is hiring an intern for the Bay Area Development Team. This role supports fundraising campaigns, event logistics, and community engagement initiatives. You will gain practical experience in the nonprofit sector while contributing to health-focused projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising activities and administrative tasks.
- Support the Development and Operations teams during fundraising campaigns.
- Manage event auction logistics, including donor outreach and item organization.
- Plan and organize health education events for corporate partners.
- Handle pre-campaign planning, day-of event execution, and post-campaign wrap-up projects.
- Communicate with donors, volunteers, and vendors via phone and email.
- Maintain data and generate reports within event support systems.
- Create marketing materials like invitations, social media posts, and volunteer rosters.
- Participate in volunteer management by prepping for and attending meetings.
- Conduct prospect research to identify new leads for fundraising efforts.
What you'll need#
- Current senior or graduate student status in business, nonprofit management, sales, marketing, event planning, public relations, or public health.
- Comfort with public speaking and professional outreach to donors and vendors.
- Proven interest or experience in sales, promotion, or fundraising.
- Background in event planning.
- Strong communication skills for both one-on-one and group settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
- Reliable transportation or access to public transit.
- Reliable WiFi connection.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Oakland, California.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 8, 2026, to December 11, 2026).
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Commitment: Minimum 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30am and 5:00pm.
- Compensation: $23.00 per hour.
