About the role#
The American Heart Association is hiring an Intern for Development & Operations to support the Orange County, Inland Empire, and Coachella Valley market. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit operations while contributing to major health initiatives like the Heart Walk and Go Red for Women. You will work directly with the Event Director and development teams to manage the lifecycle of fundraising campaigns.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the development, logistics, and administration of regional fundraising activities.
- Support pre-campaign planning, day-of-event execution, and post-campaign wrap-up projects.
- Manage data entry, reporting, donor tracking, and prospect research using platforms like Luminate and Tableau.
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment and engagement efforts.
- Update campaign marketing materials, including social media content, invitations, and event collateral.
- Provide administrative support to ensure events run efficiently.
- Participate in Community Impact initiatives, such as Hands-Only CPR demonstrations and company kickoffs.
What you'll need#
- Senior or graduate student status in Business, Marketing, Event Planning, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Interest or experience in nonprofit fundraising, event management, or volunteer coordination.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with comfort in public speaking and outreach.
- Ability to work professionally with community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Minimum availability of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 5pm.
- Reliable transportation and a stable WiFi connection.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- Location: Irvine, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 25, 2027, to May 7, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid, with one to two days per week in the Irvine office.
- Compensation: $23.00 per hour.
