About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in the non-profit sector by supporting the American Heart Association in the Tampa Bay area. You will work on signature events, manage volunteer relationships, and assist with communications. This is a paid, full-time internship for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Support major events including Go Red for Women, the Heart Ball, and the Heart Walk.
- Assist with silent auction preparation, such as managing forms, photographing items, and writing descriptions.
- Help with event operations, including setup, breakdown, and processing payments.
- Participate in weekly logistics meetings and support vendor selection and contracting.
- Manage the volunteer database and respond to incoming volunteer inquiries.
- Create and edit slide decks, one-page documents, and other event materials.
- Prepare and mail external communications.
What you'll need#
- Current senior or graduate student status in business, hospitality, or event planning.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish with strong attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor suitable for a corporate and non-profit environment.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Canva.
- Availability of at least 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, plus nights and weekends for specific events.
- Reliable transportation and a stable Wi-Fi connection.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
