About the role#
As a Systems Development Engineer Intern, you will work on scalable systems and cloud services. You will be matched with a manager and a mentor to help you lead projects that impact our customers. This role offers hands-on experience in a real-world setting where you will build, test, and learn alongside experienced engineers.
What you'll do#
- Create, improve, or invent tools and applications that function as part of a larger system.
- Build and operate supportable products or services.
- Write code that is secure, stable, testable, and maintainable.
- Build systems and processes that improve safety, agility, and automation for other builders.
- Learn the business context and technologies behind your team's system implementations.
- Develop an understanding of how hardware, software, networking, and operating systems interact.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience coding, scripting, or automating in at least one language such as Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby, or PowerShell.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week for a maximum of 12 weeks.
- Familiarity with computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
- Experience with distributed computing, open-source technologies like Linux, Spring, or React, and TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
