About the role#
As a Systems Development Engineer Intern, you will work on scalable systems and services. You will be matched with a manager and a mentor to lead projects that impact our technology. This role involves hands-on building and learning in a real-world setting, with opportunities to connect with other engineers and interns.
What you'll do#
- Create, improve, or invent tools and applications that integrate into larger systems.
- Build and operate supportable products or services while making significant technical contributions.
- Write code that is secure, stable, testable, and maintainable with minimal defects.
- Learn how hardware, software, networking, and operating systems interact.
- Build systems and processes that improve safety, agility, and automation for other teams.
- Develop an understanding of the business context and technologies behind team implementations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Your academic program must be physically located in Canada.
- Experience coding, scripting, or automating in at least one language such as Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby, or PowerShell.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week for a maximum of 12 weeks.
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals including object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
- Experience with distributed computing, open-source technologies like Linux, Spring, or React, and TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
- Ability to automate and simplify development, test, and operations processes.
- Strong documentation and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

- Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May-June).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
