About the role#
Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) is hiring Software Development Engineer interns to build mission-critical cloud services in secure, air-gapped environments. You will work on distributed systems that support national security customers. You will own the entire lifecycle of your code, from initial design through deployment and ongoing operations. Selected candidates will be sponsored for a security clearance at the TS/SCI with polygraph level.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to design, build, and operate innovative services.
- Break down complex, ambiguous problems into well-defined, solvable components.
- Write clean, maintainable code using best practices and design patterns.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
- Use GenAI and AI-powered tools to enhance development productivity while validating AI-generated output.
- Work in an agile environment using CI/CD principles.
- Participate in operational tasks, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.
What you'll need#
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related STEM field.
- Expected degree conferral between October 2027 and September 2029.
- At least one quarter, semester, or trimester of studies remaining after the internship concludes.
- Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
- Experience with data structure implementation, algorithm development, and object-oriented design.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Previous technical internship or project experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, database systems, open-source projects, or version control systems is a plus.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, 12-week internship starting in May or June 2027.
- Work is on-site, Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week.
- Locations include Arlington, VA; Jessup, MD; Seattle, WA; and Denver, CO.
- The annual salary for this position is 109,395 USD.
