About the role#
Amazon Economics is hiring Structural IO Economist Interns for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week internship. You will work with large-scale datasets to model strategic decision-making and inform business optimization. This role provides hands-on experience relevant to dissertation work and future career paths. By applying, you are considered for all available Structural IO internship positions for 2027.
What you'll do#
- Analyze large-scale datasets using structural econometric techniques to solve business challenges.
- Apply discrete choice models, including logistic regression family models like BLP or nested logit.
- Utilize advanced structural methods such as dynamic models of customer or firm decisions, applied game theory, auction models, and labor market models.
- Build and refine comprehensive datasets for in-depth economic analysis.
- Collaborate with economists, scientists, and business leaders to provide data-driven insights.
- Work on pricing analysis, competition modeling, strategic behavior estimation, contract design, and marketing strategy optimization.
- Help business partners formalize and estimate objectives to drive decision-making.
- Present complex analytical findings to stakeholders and business leaders.
What you'll need#
- You must be a 3rd year or greater PhD student in Economics or a related field.
- Proficiency in data analysis languages like R, Stata, or Python, or other statistical software.

- This is an on-site, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- Locations include Arlington, VA; Bellevue, WA; New York City, NY; and Seattle, WA.
