About the role#
At AltaGas, data supports project delivery, operational performance, and business decisions. As a Data Analytics and Process Automation Co-op Student, you will work with Midstream project teams on data analytics, business intelligence, and automation initiatives. This role combines technical and business skills, offering exposure to project controls, cost management, benchmarking, and field operations. You will integrate data from multiple sources to improve reporting and develop solutions that drive efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Support data analytics and reporting for project performance, cost tracking, KPIs, and portfolio management.
- Organize, validate, and prepare data for benchmarking activities.
- Develop dashboards and reporting solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
- Improve reporting and decision-making through database development and data quality initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation to reduce manual work.
- Analyze labour, equipment, and material tracking processes to support the LEMS Automation Initiative.
- Create process documentation, playbooks, training materials, and onboarding resources.
- Help reduce invoice processing and validation time through streamlined workflows.
- Collaborate with project, construction, and business teams to find technology-enabled solutions.
- Participate in site visits to learn about field operations and project controls.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the second or third year of an undergraduate degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Business Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Interest in data analytics, business intelligence, AI, automation, and process improvement.
- Ability to work with large datasets and translate information into insights.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Exposure to Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Python, data visualization, or automation tools is an asset.
- Exposure to project controls, estimating, cost management, or construction projects is an asset.
