About the role#
This is a full-time student position within the Application Delivery team at the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo). You will support large-scale projects that help the organization grow. You will work with financial technology applications and gain experience in the asset management industry, project management, and investment operations. This term runs from January 2027 through April 2027.
What you'll do#
- Work with agile teams to carry out projects and change initiatives.
- Configure, document, and present accounting functionality during the project life cycle.
- Prepare project artifacts and help document business processes and test regression suites.
- Use business analysis tools to support enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Identify workflow issues and implement solutions.
- Facilitate meetings with subject matter experts to create and validate system specifications.
- Support Front Office initiatives related to portfolio management, trading, compliance, and investment operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to find opportunities for process optimization, automation, and risk reduction.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- You must be returning to your studies immediately after the term or completing your final work experience terms.
- Ability to gather business requirements and knowledge of investment operations.
- Experience with Agile Scrum or Kanban processes.
- Familiarity with work management tools like Azure DevOps, Mural, or Confluence.
- A strong interest in financial markets and capital markets products, including fixed income and OTC derivatives.
- Research and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in programming or database technologies such as Python, SQL, XML, C#, or HTML is desirable.
- Coursework or project experience in AI, machine learning, or data analytics is an asset.
