About the role#
The Forensic Accounting Summer Intern joins the Claims department to apply financial analysis to commercial insurance losses. You will work alongside experienced professionals to evaluate complex business losses and contribute to the resolution of claims. This position provides exposure to forensic accounting, commercial insurance, and financial analysis within a global organization.
What you'll do#
- Apply accounting principles and analytical techniques to collect, interpret, and analyze financial and business data related to commercial insurance claims.
- Assist with the evaluation and quantification of complex business losses and the preparation of loss measurements.
- Analyze financial records and perform calculations to support claim evaluations and settlement decisions.
- Collaborate with forensic accountants, claims professionals, and other subject matter experts to incorporate findings into financial analyses.
- Assist with documenting analyses, findings, and conclusions in a clear and accurate manner.
- Develop knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, including Commercial Property and Cyber, and their application to forensic accounting assignments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree, with the degree to be received no later than May 2028.
- Available for the complete Summer Internship Program from June 7 through August 6, 2027.
- Preferred majors include Accounting or Finance.
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, auditing concepts, and business fundamentals.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and manage multiple priorities.
- A documented interest in forensic accounting, financial analysis, commercial insurance, or claims.
Location & details#
- Locations: Dallas, Texas and Chicago, Illinois.
- Modality: This is an on-site, full-time internship requiring presence in the office at least four days per week.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
