About the role#
As a Summer Intern in the Energy Underwriting department, you will gain hands-on experience in a global insurance environment. This 9-week program offers exposure to complex operational and technical risks while you work alongside underwriters, risk engineers, and claims professionals. You will participate in instructor-led masterclasses, engage with senior leaders, and build professional connections.
What you'll do#
- Support the evaluation and underwriting of risks across traditional and renewable energy, power generation, mining, and petrochemical industries.
- Review underwriting submissions, financial data, operational information, and loss history to assist with risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
- Collaborate with internal specialists to develop tailored insurance solutions for clients.
- Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business and renewal opportunities.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks.
- Develop technical knowledge of energy insurance while strengthening your analytical and decision-making skills.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028.
- Availability for the full program from June 7 through August 6, 2027.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate in a team environment.
- Interest in the energy industry, commercial insurance, or risk management.
- Preferred majors include Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Risk Management & Insurance, Engineering, Energy Management, or related fields.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Modality: On-site (at least four days per week).
- Duration: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $31.51 - $34.37 per hour.
