About the role#
As an Underwriting Intern in our Aviation department, you will gain hands-on experience by working alongside experienced underwriters, claims professionals, attorneys, and risk specialists. You will participate in a 9-week program designed to develop your technical knowledge of aviation insurance and build core professional skills. This role offers exposure to the day-to-day operations of our Specialty Aviation business, which provides insurance solutions for aircraft operators, airports, manufacturers, and airlines.
What you'll do#
- Support the evaluation and underwriting of aviation risks.
- Review underwriting submissions, exposure information, loss history, and other relevant data to support risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
- Partner with team members to develop tailored insurance solutions for clients.
- Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business and renewal opportunities.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging aviation risks.
- Develop analytical, decision-making, and relationship-management skills.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028.
- Major in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in aviation, commercial insurance, or risk management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to a team-oriented environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Los Angeles, California.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 7 through August 6, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site, requiring at least four days per week in the office.
- Employment Type: Full time.
