About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Intern position supports the Zurn Wilkins Water Control and Safety business unit. This summer role provides hands-on experience in the development and certification of backflow and pressure reducing valves. You will work directly with the engineering team on product testing and design tasks.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic product design modifications and support engineering change processes.
- Use AutoCAD and Inventor to create and revise technical drawings.
- Develop detail and assembly drawings for equipment and products.
- Conduct technical research to identify issues and propose potential solutions.
- Create rapid prototypes using 3D printing technology.
- Test plumbing products against performance standards and report your findings.
- Communicate with team members to gather project requirements and share progress updates.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Mechanical Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Completed coursework related to design.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- A detail-oriented approach to tasks.
