About the role#
The Logistics Intern reports to the Logistics Manager of Domestic Transportation. This role focuses on analyzing data, optimizing the transportation network, and supporting transportation systems to ensure the efficient movement of goods. You will work with cross-functional teams to identify data-driven insights and improve logistics performance.
What you'll do#
- Partner with internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement for the transportation management system (TMS).
- Track and report on fuel and market data trends using tools like DAT, EIA, and JOC.
- Update and maintain carrier contact master records to ensure data accuracy.
- Develop a standard operating procedure (SOP) and template for tracking prospective carriers.
- Manage the Certificate of Insurance (COI) process for carriers, including validation and compliance monitoring.
- Complete ad-hoc projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program related to Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration.
- Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Ability to work full time (40 hours per week) during the summer.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
