About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience applying engineering principles to product development. You will support the StruXure engineering team by working on new product designs and improving existing engineering records. This 12-week program allows you to build technical skills through prototyping, testing, and documentation while working alongside experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Create and update 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
- Review and update legacy parts and engineering data to current standards.
- Support new product development through component design and design iteration.
- Work in a shop environment to support prototype fabrication, assembly, testing, and design validation.
- Investigate mechanical and manufacturing issues to assist with root-cause analysis and corrective solutions.
- Own at least one defined engineering project from initial problem definition through implementation.
- Present your final project results to the engineering and product development team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field at an accredited university.
- Anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- 3D modeling experience, with SolidWorks experience preferred.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and experience using common hand and power tools.
- Understanding of mechanical design, tolerancing, design for manufacturability, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical communication skills.
- Authorization to work in the United States.

- Location: Comstock Park, Michigan.
- Term: Full-time for 12 weeks during Summer 2027.
- Modality: This position is on-site.
- Requirements: Reliable transportation to and from the work location is required.
