About the role#
This contract role supports our Fleet Operations team. You will help us anticipate the resources needed to scale an autonomous vehicle service across new markets. Your work focuses on forecasting and scenario planning for fleet availability, staffing, charging demand, and infrastructure. You will join the team directly to contribute to real projects that inform high-impact planning decisions.
What you'll do#
- Develop models to forecast operational workload, supply hours, and infrastructure needs.
- Evaluate model performance using backtesting and forecast-versus-actual reporting.
- Build scenario models to help leaders understand the cost and staffing implications of market growth.
- Combine statistical methods, machine learning, and AI tools to improve forecast accuracy and interpretability.
- Prototype AI-powered decision-support tools that identify risks and allow leaders to explore planning scenarios.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a master’s degree in data science, business, statistics, computer science, operations research, industrial engineering, economics, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Ability to select the right analytical approach for the problem rather than defaulting to the most complex model.
- Proven ability to translate complex analytics into strategic recommendations for executive decision-making.
- Comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities in an operational environment.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Foster City, California.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Minimum of 20 hours per week for at least three months.
- Compensation: $30 per hour.
- Employment type: Contract position through a third-party vendor.
