About the role#
Ziegler Caterpillar offers an internship program for students pursuing careers in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside senior technicians in a shop environment. This role focuses on developing practical mechanical skills while supporting the maintenance needs of our customers.
What you'll do#
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines, construction, and agriculture equipment.
- Learn to respond to customer needs in a positive and timely manner.
- Work with senior technicians to build real-world mechanical expertise.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year degree program for diesel engine mechanics, construction, or agricultural equipment mechanics.
- Good academic standing and positive recommendations from instructors.
- A positive attitude and a desire to work as a team player.
- Your own mechanic tool set.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 60 lbs and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, kneeling, squatting, and climbing.
- Successful completion of a drug test, as this role is safety-sensitive.

- Location: Madison, Minnesota.
- Employment type: Part-time, rolling term.
- Compensation: Starting wage is $21.00 per hour.
