About the role#
Ziegler Caterpillar offers a hands-on internship program for students pursuing careers in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. You will gain experience diagnosing and repairing machinery while working alongside senior technicians. This role is part-time and operates on a rolling basis. The starting wage is $21.00 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Develop real-world mechanical skills through mentorship from senior technicians.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines.
- Help maintain and repair construction or agriculture equipment in a shop environment.
- Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year degree program for diesel engine, construction, or agricultural equipment mechanics.
- Good academic standing and positive recommendations from your instructors.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team.
- Your own set of mechanic tools.
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to undergo a drug test, as this is a safety-sensitive position.

- This position is located in Rochester, Minnesota.
- Work is performed on-site.
