About the role#
Ziegler Caterpillar offers an internship program for students pursuing careers in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside senior technicians in a shop environment. This role focuses on developing your mechanical skills while you learn to support customer needs.
What you'll do#
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines, construction equipment, and agriculture machinery.
- Learn to respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner.
- Work in a shop environment to ensure maximum value for work performed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year degree program for diesel engine mechanics, construction equipment mechanics, agricultural equipment mechanics, or a related field.
- A record of good grades and positive recommendations from your instructors.
- A positive attitude and a desire to work as part of a team.
- Your own set of mechanic tools.
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 60 lbs and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, kneeling, crawling, and climbing.

- Employment type: Part-time.
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
- Work modality: On-site.
- This position is safety-sensitive and requires a pre-employment drug test.
