About the role#
As a Truck Driver Student, you will attend training sessions to earn your CDL-A while gaining on-the-job experience as an LTL Driver. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Manchester, New Hampshire.
What you'll do#
- Attend training to obtain your CDL-A and operate a tractor-trailer under supervision for up to 11 consecutive hours.
- Perform vehicle inspections according to FMCSR section 396.13.
- Maintain accurate records in line with DOT, FMCSR, and company policies.
- Load and unload freight using a forklift as needed.
- Complete all required documentation and reports.
- Maintain regular contact with service center personnel.
- Follow all company safety policies.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting objects up to 50 lbs frequently and over 75 lbs occasionally.
- Move and position converter dollies requiring a pull force of approximately 128 lbs.
- Work in various weather conditions and navigate uneven or slippery surfaces.
- Reach, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel as part of daily operations.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- At least 1 year of related experience.
- A valid state-issued driver's license held for a minimum of 12 months.
- A CDL-A permit by the first day of class.
- Ability to obtain double/triple trailers, tanker, and HAZMAT endorsements within 90 days.
- Ability to initiate a TSA fingerprint-based background check by the second week of class.
- A safe driving record and history.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug test and a company-paid DOT physical and pre-hire test.
- No prior positive drug tests or refusals in the last 3 years.
- Ability to read and speak English to converse with the public and understand traffic signs.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Forklift experience and a Class B CDL are preferred.
