About the role#
As a Truck Driver Student, you will gain the skills and experience necessary to become an LTL Driver. This program provides training to help you obtain your CDL-A while you work on-site in Walton, Kentucky. This is a full-time position that requires availability for various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Attend training sessions to earn your CDL-A.
- Perform vehicle inspections as required by federal regulations.
- Load and unload freight using a forklift.
- Maintain records and documentation according to company and DOT policies.
- Communicate with service center personnel.
- Follow all company safety policies.
- Operate a tractor-trailer combination under supervision.
- Lift freight and objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Work in various weather conditions and navigate uneven surfaces.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- A valid state-issued driver's license held for at least 12 months.
- A CDL-A permit by the first day of class.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug test with no prior positive results or refusals in the last 3 years.
- A safe driving record.
- Ability to pass a company-paid DOT physical.
- Proficiency in English to read traffic signs, converse with the public, and complete reports.
- Ability to obtain required endorsements including double/triple trailers, tanker, and HAZMAT within 90 days.
- Completion of a TSA fingerprint-based background check by the second week of class.
