About the role#
As a Truck Driver Student, you will gain on-the-job experience while working toward your CDL-A. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Fridley, Minnesota. You will work under supervision to learn the operations of a tractor-trailer and prepare for a career in transportation.
What you'll do#
- Attend training sessions to earn your CDL-A.
- Perform vehicle inspections as required by FMCSR guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records in line with DOT, FMCSR, and company policies.
- Load and unload freight, using a forklift when necessary.
- Operate a tractor-trailer combination under supervision.
- Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
- Communicate with service center personnel.
What you'll need#
- You are at least 21 years old.
- You have 1 year of related experience.
- You hold a valid state-issued driver's license for at least 12 months.
- You can attain a CDL-A permit by the first day of class.
- You pass a DOT drug test and a company-paid DOT physical.
- You can lift freight weighing 50 lbs frequently, and occasionally over 75 lbs.
- You can read and speak English to converse with the public and understand traffic signs.
