About the role#
The Regulatory Business Intern role supports the Regulatory Administration team at Xcel Energy. You will assist with policy, cost recovery, and rulemaking proceedings to help secure Public Utilities Commission approval. This position begins in Fall 2026 and requires part-time work during the school year. There is a possibility for the internship to extend beyond the initial term based on performance and business needs.
What you'll do#
- Manage or support assigned cases to meet cost recovery and policy objectives.
- Research issues and provide recommendations to leadership when decisions are needed.
- Track and report on case milestones to management.
- Work cross-functionally with business partners across the organization.
- Create high-level process maps and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Assist with compliance items, reporting, and oral or written communications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, English, Economics, Political Science, or Environmental Engineering.
- Ability to work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) during the school year.
- Ability to work full-time (up to 40 hours per week) during the summer.
- Coursework or experience in research, writing, finance, or project management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and AI tools.
