About the role#
Renaissance Economic Development Corporation is looking for a Business Advisor Support Intern to help our team serve small businesses across New York City. This role offers hands-on experience in business counseling, loan support, and community engagement. You will learn how a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution supports entrepreneurs in low-to-moderate-income communities.
What you'll do#
- Participate in outreach activities including events and community engagement.
- Provide translation and interpretation services in Tagalog, Thai, or Vietnamese during client meetings and workshops.
- Assist Business Advisors with client intake, scheduling, and follow-ups.
- Help prepare loan application packages by gathering and organizing documentation.
- Maintain accurate client records in Salesforce.
- Develop and distribute workshop and marketing materials.
- Conduct market research and collect community resource information.
- Shadow Business Advisors to learn about small business operations and loan processing.
What you'll need#
- Current student or recent graduate in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Fluency in Tagalog, Thai, or Vietnamese, both spoken and written.
- Interest in economic development, entrepreneurship, and small business finance.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to supporting diverse communities.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Flushing, New York, with occasional travel to other NYC boroughs.
- This is a paid internship.
- The schedule is flexible with part-time options during the semester and potential for full-time hours in the summer.
