About the role#
This internship supports the Regulatory Administration team at Xcel Energy. You will assist with policy, cost recovery, and rulemaking proceedings to help the company secure Public Utilities Commission approval. This role involves project management, research, and communication tasks to meet regulatory objectives. The internship begins in Fall 2026 and requires a commitment to work part-time during the school year.
What you'll do#
- Manage or support assigned regulatory cases.
- Research specific issues as needed.
- Meet case milestones accurately and on time.
- Report on progress and milestones to management.
- Provide recommendations to leadership when decisions are required.
- Work cross-functionally with business partners across the organization.
- Create high-level process maps and identify opportunities for process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuit of a degree in Business Administration, English, Economics, Public Policy, Environmental studies, or a related field.
- Ability to work part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours per week) and full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours per week).
- Ability to commute to the office in Denver for in-person work.
- Experience or coursework in research, writing, finance, or project management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and AI tools.
