About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship for nursing students. You will work alongside an experienced RN preceptor in a 1:1 mentorship model. The program runs from May 17, 2027, to July 10, 2027, and includes two 4-week unit experiences. Rotations are available in the Surgical Unit, Medical Unit, Emergency Department, Critical Care Units, and the Operating Room. You must be available to work 36 hours per week on rotating shifts.
What you'll do#
- Provide general nursing care and personal assistance, including bathing, dressing, and positioning patients.
- Assist the registered nurse with care coordination and discharge planning.
- Monitor patient conditions and report changes to the care team.
- Obtain and document vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Perform clinical procedures such as EKGs, Point-of-Care testing, wound care, and catheterization once competency is demonstrated.
- Prepare and transport patients for tests and procedures.
- Manage unit logistics by stocking supplies, setting up equipment, and maintaining inventory levels.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an approved Nursing program with at least two clinical semesters completed.
- Completion of a Medical Surgical rotation in an accredited nursing program prior to the start date.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support certification upon hire.
- Completion of a formal Nurse Extern Program upon hire.
- Good standing status within your nursing program.
- Preference is given to students enrolled in an accredited BSN program or those entering their final year of study.
