About the role#
The Nurse Extern I program offers nursing students clinical experience at Saint Francis Hospital. You will work on a Medical-Surgical unit to build your skills and prepare for a career as a Registered Nurse. This position involves a guided training program that follows the scope of the State Board of Nursing. You must be available to attend the New Hire Orientation on October 9, 2026.
What you'll do#
- Assist nursing staff with daily patient care activities.
- Help patients with hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures.
- Support nurses during patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Keep the patient environment clean and organized.
- Work with the healthcare team to reach patient care goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
- An updated resume.
- An unofficial nursing school transcript that verifies your course completion.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Memphis, Tennessee.
- This is a part-time, on-site, paid position.
- You are required to work at least two 12-hour shifts each month.
- Scheduling depends on your availability and the needs of the department.
