About the role#
Wave Life Sciences is hiring a Process Development Co-op for the Winter 2027 term. This position is based in Lexington, Massachusetts. You will work on-site as part of a team focused on oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, and analysis. This role provides hands-on training with laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
What you'll do#
- Assist with upstream and downstream development of oligonucleotides.
- Prepare synthesis reagents for solid phase oligonucleotide synthesis by weighing organic compounds.
- Independently prepare buffer solutions of specific molarity for purification.
- Operate AKTA systems and learn to use UNICORN software.
- Run desalting operations on Sartoflow TFF systems.
- Prepare and submit samples for analysis on UPLC and LCMS systems.
- Document experimental procedures and findings in electronic lab notebooks.
- Use equipment such as pH meters and Nanodrop to record data.
- Present your experimental data during team meetings.
- Follow lab safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program related to Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and cross-disciplinary environment.
- Eagerness to learn about new instrumentation and technology.
- Previous experience in an organic chemistry or biochemistry laboratory is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
